The PC Users Group of Connecticut (TPCUG) was formed to assist fellow members as well as the general public in becoming and remaining up to date with respect to both hardware and software technology of personal computers. Additionally we hope to increase awareness on the part of the general public with respect to the technical and practical uses of personal computers.
TPCUG of CT's intent is to provide a forum for communication between users of personal computers and manufacturers and vendors of personal computer hardware and software. All members of TPCUG of CT receive a copy of The Program (our newsletter) each month via e-mail.
Our meetings are open to the public and we encourage non-members to attend as our guest. Members are encouraged to bring guests whenever possible.
The PC Users Group of Connecticut meets at 7:00 P.M., at the Trumbull Public Library on Quality Street in Trumbull, CT.

John is a retired electrical engineer where he held technical and management positions associated with the hardware and software design of test systems. He was a founding and active member, including holding various office positions, of the Fairfield County Computer Users Group (FCUG) for 25 years. John is interested in most aspects of computing and fluent in many of the popular software products. He also moderates a CyberRally for owners of Roadtrek motor homes.
Vic Casaretti: Vice President
Vic had been in systems applications development for 37 years as a programmer, analyst, systems manager, department manager and consultant before retiring in 2011. He has worked for such organizations as WR Grace, Merrill Lynch, Cendant Corporation, and United Illuminating. He has taught MS Office classes at the Monroe Senior Center as well as given presentations in MS Excel and MS Word at member meetings.
Barbara Gravitz: Treasurer, Communications Chair, Program Committee, Email Co-Monitor, Hospitality Assistant
Barbara is a Registered Dietitian and joined the TPCUG in 1997and has been an appointed member of the board for most of that time. She has served previously as: Librarian, Program Co-Chair, and helped at the member sign in table at meetings. She sends out the monthly newsletters and meeting notices. As a Registered Dietitian, she finds it very rewarding to help patients improve their diets and health.
Tony Pedro: Secretary, Web Master Assistant, Membership Table Assistant, Facebook Assistant
Tony is a Shelton Resident. He is retired from Pitney Bowes after 30 plus years of service. His most recent position with Pitney Bowes was "software test engineer". Besides spending as much time as possible with two beautiful granddaughters, he also volunteers at the "Red Cross" and at the "Mercy Learning Center".
Norm Glover: Membership Chair, Nominating Committee Chair, Assistant Program Chair, Bi-Laws Co-Chair
Norm was appointed to the board in January 2004 and elected to it in November 2005. He has previously served as Program Chair and has been a member of TPCUG since 1997.
Bill Vaniotis: Hospitality Chair, Membership Table
Bill, a middle school teacher, retired after teaching 38 years in the Fairfield school system. He taught science and math for 20 years and computer science for the last 18 years. He served as liaison for the Science Department and as Team Leader for the Unified Arts Departments. For the past four years, as a member of the board, Bill has assisted with refreshments and with the registration table for TPCUG meetings
Sheila Swaikowski: Web Master, Facebook, Photos, Web SIG Facilitator
Sheila lives in Bridgeport and was a programmer for 24 years at company headquarters in Greenwich, Danbury and Milford, CT. She continues to be interested in computers. She has a B.S. degree from Central CT State College in biology and chemistry and an A.S. degree from Norwalk Technical College in Data Processing. Her varied interests are reading, being a docent at Beardsley Zoo, walking/ cycling, church, genealogy and family.
Karl Witalis: Publicity Chair, Program Committee, Free Table, Hospitality Transport, Assistant Nominating Committee
Karl lives in Monroe and is retired. He is retired from Preseis Inc (seismic field recorder for blasting companies), Carpenter Steel, and Sacred Heart University. He has been President of the Monroe Land trust for 7 years and Connecticut Senior Games Chairman for Bicycling for 11 years. His hobbies are bicycling and computers
Richard Kalfaian: Newsletter Assistant
Richard is a retired metallurgical engineer. He worked at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, performing root-cause failure analysis on dynamic and static helicopter components. Richard has been a TPCUG-CT member since 1997. He has served on the board of directors as secretary and was co-editor of the newsletter for a number of years and is now the newsletter editor.
Jeffrey Heisner: Board Member
Jeffrey is an IT disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity (BC), and Information Security (IS) specialist for 27+ years. During 9/11, he assisted with coordination efforts of critical relief supplies, emergency personnel and equipment to (New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.), also after Hurricane Katrina. Advisor to President Clinton (1994 - 2000). He publishes life/safety for 7 magazines, and how-to fishing articles for 3 publications. He enjoys fishing, boating and model railroading.
Larry Gross: Board Member
Larry is a retired electrical engineer who worked in the aerospace industry for over forty years. Involved with personal computers for over 35 years, he currently develops software and web sites both professionally and as a hobby. He has considerable experience in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Access as well as Adobe Dreamweaver.
Jim Kelly: Board Member
Jim retired after 30 years in finance marketing and sales with major money center banks. He also spent four years in commercial Real Estate sales and leasing. He has been, and is still, active in local organizations, such as the Monroe Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce, AARP local Chapter 3240 and Shelton Senior Center, where he has held several officer and director positions. Jim is proficient in key Microsoft Office applications and enjoys woodworking, reading and travel.
